Aklan 2010

For the second year in a row, our Philippines Gospel team made the trip to Panay Island.

This trip they went for 3 weeks of outreach to assist Immanuel Christian Assembly Church (ICAC) in church planting efforts in the communities of Malinao and Mabillo, Aklan Province. The ICAC is an association of 23 churches in Panay. They provided a total of 30 counselors for our team to train in personal evangelism and follow-up as part of the outreach. In the end, well over 1,000 people heard the Gospel in 6 public meetings, and over 200 were counseled.

Church members visited those they had counseled and organized home Bible studies and cell groups in the days following the public meetings. When Dale Macabale visited one couple for follow-up, he found that 3 relatives had been murdered in family feuds in recent years. This couple, Elmer and Jenna, were eager to discuss their new-found faith and how joy had entered their family. Cell groups continue to meet in many of these homes in the two communities, lead by members from the nearest ICAC church.

Our team continues to be invited to the Visayas region (the islands between Luzon and Mindanao), and we have a burden to see local Gospel teams raised up. Though we offer training both through short workshops on site and via our extensive training program for evangelists, it is difficult to find those willing to commit the time, effort and sacrifice required. Please pray with us that God would raise up the right men to become laborers in His vineyard. This kind of ministry must be learned primarily in the field rather than a classroom.
