Service Opportunities
TEL desires to recruit a new generation of missionaries to work in gospel teams alongside national evangelists in the great harvest fields of Asia. Jesus’ declaration recorded in Matthew 9:37-38 that “the harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few” is equally true today.
TEL needs missionaries both with ministry and administrative skills who are willing to be trained on the field to work in gospel team ministry. We primarily seek to place career missionaries who will commit to a lifetime of service in Asia so as to adequately blend with the culture in order to maximize their contribution to the harvest. We welcome candidates in any stage of life--from high-school grad to retiree, from singles to families--regardless of ministry experience.
We also recognize that the Lord often confirms His will for long-term service through short-term experiences. Short-term opportunities can be customized to meet your interest, from a few weeks to two years.
Requirements for Short- and Long-Term Missionaries:
- Be born again
- Have a consistent devotional life
- Love for God and the Lost in Asia
- Heart for evangelism
- Commitment to follow-up those who make decisions for Christ
- Commitment to being a Disciple and Discipling those hungry for God
- Self-starter
- Great flexibility in all areas of life
- Heart to work on a Team, as a Servant
- Persistence and endurance
- Good physical health
- No Bible school necessary--all training provided
Current Opportunities with TEL
Term: Short-Term -- Six-month minimum commitment
Seeking: Single man or woman, couple or retiree(s)
Area of Service: Shanghai university district
Assignment: Language study, evangelize and disciple Chinese
Budget: $800 (single) or $1,400 (couple) monthly
Details: Learn Chinese and share the Gospel with local Chinese in concert with our national staff
Term: Short-Term -- December 29, 2010 - January 7, 2011 (TENTATIVE)
Seeking: Singles, couples or retirees
Area of Service: Southern China
Assignment: Evangelism and follow-up among high-school and university students
Budget: $2,000/person (TENTATIVE)
Details: Meet TEL representatives in target city, visit universities and English corners to share Christ with college students, possibly also visit surrounding village of unreached peoples.
Term: Short-Term -- Six-month minimum commitment
Seeking: Single man
Area of Service: Andhra Pradesh, east India
Assignment: Evangelize and disciple Indians
Budget: $600/month
Details: Using English, share the Gospel with local Indians in concert with our national staff.
Term: Long-Term -- Two-year minimum commitment
Seeking: Couple, family or single man
Area of Service: Salatiga and the rest of Indonesia
Assignment: Teach English; personal and public evangelism, follow-up and discipling of Muslims and nominal Christians
Budget: $1,500 (couple), $2,000 (family), or $500 (single) monthly
Details: Join TEL's Gospel team for public and private evangelism; One-year language school; On-field ministry training; teach conversational English 2-3 days/week (no special training needed); preaching and follow-up with mobile Gospel Team in Salatiga and rural locations; follow-up and disciple fruit of evangelism
Term: Short-Term -- Six-month minimum commitment
Seeking: Single man or woman, couple or retiree(s)
Area of Service: English Training Center
Assignment: Teach English, evangelize and disciple Muslims and nominal Christians
Budget: $500 (single) or $1,500 (couple) monthly
Details: Visa provided through the school; teach conversational English 2-3 days/week (no special training needed); preach and follow-up with TEL Gospel Team
Term: Short-Term -- 2-6 weeks
Seeking: Single man
Area of Service: Manila, Batangas and/or Lipa City
Assignment: Join our evangelistic team in soul-winning for 2-6 weeks
Budget: $100/week (plus airfare, approximately $1,700)
Details: Learn one-on-one evangelism, participate in Gospel meetings, take part in Initial Follow-up. Get a Full Immersion experience: Live together with our missionary or national staff
Term: Long-Term -- Two-year minimum commitment
Seeking: Single woman, age 25-30
Area of Service: Dalat, Vietnam
Assignment: Teach English to kindergarteners and adults
Budget: $200/month salary; raise $400/month support
Details: TESL/TEFL certificate needed; teach English to children aged 5 and up, also to adults. Salary will increase in accord with student enrollment.
